Block 39, Centre for the Promotion of Science

L'Atelier RTA - Office - managed by the architect Santiago Parramon - wins a special mention at the International Competition for the design Centre for the Promotion Science in Belgrade, basing the design of their project at the confluence of streams in a central space.
The project was conceived and developed jointly by the team of studies of RTA-Office Barcelona and Shanghai, the city where the studio has its headquarters. The Centre for the Promotion Science is presented as a driving force for the renewal and development of Block 39 of the New Belgrade area and the civil service culture that already is home to the University Campus.
-RTA Office proposes a building can generate an event: a node institutional and mirror of the city becomes an international attraction. A new perception of the place, was born, therefore, the characteristics of open space, fluid, dynamic and unhindered. In fact, through the project, the study seeks to address the employment and the transformation of the site to a "fluid" to democratize and free space from the strict structures of urban organization, the ultimate aim to return to the city.
The guidelines of the basic project born from the idea of \u200b\u200bSerbia as a crossroads between the cultures of East and West. A concept that inspired the organization of access and the composition of the structure, which takes the form of a cross with a spectacular lobby at its center, conceived as a fulcrum and a resting place where the visitor pauses to choose the way forward within the building.

All access, join, therefore, in this space, around which are distributed to other functions: temporary exhibitions and the offices of employees are in the north-east, the west and the Library Science Club and the permanent exhibitions in the east. Alongside these two are: a restaurant, a planetarium and a conference room, which is accessed through the garden of science.
The result is a single volume, shaped as a unified whole. A body of elegant, refined lines and winding that intertwine with each other. The Centre for the Promotion of Science, proposed by RTA - Office was created through the merger of high technology of 3D modeling and construction of three dimensional space, between trying to harmonious integration with the landscape and the strong commitment to sustainability, energy efficiency and architectural composition building.

The strong expression of architecture is entrusted mainly to the choice of material, the texture dark black steel recycled, used to cover the "skin" of the building. By contrast, the cuts in it are defined openings to the outside of the building, which is a meeting point between the inside and outside. They provide a well thought out entry of natural light in interior spaces, allowing at the same time - from them - a clear vision of prospects selected to the outside.

The main feature of the center, and recurring thought in the architectural design of Santiago Parramon is "the creation of space against the form of creation", a guiding idea which has made the new building exclusive, expression of time and a visionary approach, in which poetry and technology come together in favor of the human condition. And 'this, in fact the main protagonist of the project and concern of the designers intend to create a "responsible and responsive to the fundamental requirement of well-being, where I work and good quality of life coexist without ledersi.
RTA Office thought the application of best practices and design criteria that, at the building in order to minimize the impact environment, and so ottenre a building certified as "Green LEEDTM" WORLDGBS by the Green Building Council of New York.

against the stress of modern life

Imagine a home nestled in the green but could not make a garden outside the studio founded by Makoto Tanijri in Nagoya has created the concept of "garden-in-the-house" inside the house and created a sort of oasis inside, a kind of "garden room" to be added to the normal division of spaces.

evergreens, large stones and polished slabs of concrete give the environment a zen look and act as a natural decoration, impressive and easy to maintain.

separated by glass walls, the plants occupy one third of the apartment, on two floors of approximately 75 square meters each. The green zone divides and gives shape to space, cropping the living room, the rooms and the bathroom where the bath is also in evidence, and privacy is sacrificed in favor of a spectacular view over the green.

Interior white, glass walls and a large skylight to help create a bright and open, while the furniture wood warm the atmosphere. From the outside, the cube-shaped building is covered with corrugated metal sheets and a white oversize door about 4 feet high, which opens on two levels, suggesting the horizontal division of the apartment. The natural light coming from the apartment through vertically through an opening connecting the upper to the lower floor, drawing a courtyard.
