In the wonderful city of Nevsky Prospekt study Milan marks the return of Italian Piuarch after almost two centuries of absence. In 2006 the studio won the competition by Galaxy LLC to restructure and rebuild an area in the heart of the former imperial capital. It is a building with a total surface of 23,500 square meters in the city center, just steps from the Hermitage and Nevsky Prospect, in which, in addition to twenty thousand square meters for offices, were made a Boutique Hotel twenty-two attic rooms and a rooftop restaurant with spectacular views of the Cathedral of St. Isaac.
The project begins with a particular attention to the context and tradition of city planning, without giving a contemporary architectural language. Covering an area of \u200b\u200b5000 square meters within a block bounded toward the street Pochtamskaya Ulitsa two eighteenth-century buildings, Piuarch achieved a six-storey building.
Inside the new volume have been excavated four short films that give light to areas that face.
gold, green, blue and red, inspired by the rich colors of the facades of historic homes in St. Petersburg, are the colors that characterize the four courts.
The facades are all transparent, and reflective-glass mirror made in four different colors. The glass panels (75 cm wide and 4 meters high) followed by different angles and spin from the edge of the facade, the result is an evocative reflections in the mirrored glass shattering and a kaleidoscopic effect that comes alive with the change of the daylight. Spaces are designed as meeting places open to public activities, art installations and exhibitions. The court gold, at the entrance, houses a sculpture hanging, the red copper volume, the blue, a water tank in the courtyard while the protagonist is the green vegetation. All surfaces are covered in white Italian travertine, the same as the Kazan Cathedral on Nevsky. On the top floor of the two buildings were connected with a metal cover that with different inclinations, reconnects with a continuous form of the asymmetric slope roofs. The Boutique Hotel has twenty-two rooms, all different, decorated with design elements that bring the cultural tradition of St. Petersburg at the turn of 900, ranging from literature to music, until the extraordinary season of the Ballets Russes Diaghilev and Nijinsky. The Attic restaurant would be managed by Ginza Project, the guru of the St. Petersburg restaurant, is a scenic area entirely glazed. Located on the top floor of the complex with a pitched roof, overlooking a breathtaking view over the city. There is a lot of Italy in the construction of the building, a true and his team work between Russian and Italian companies.
